A glimpse into the sights of Itsukushima Shrine, junior Ryley Agsalda sits on the lookout of Miyajima Island’s torri gates off of the Hiroshima prefecture. Students were able to walk out to the torri gates since the island was at low tide; if it was high tide the gate would appear as if it was floating on top of the ocean.

Rivals Mililani and Leilehua High School met on Oct. 7, 2011 at the John Kauinana Stadium for a head to head match.  Being Mililani’s senior night, the Trojans were determined to give it their all.

The evening started off with Junior Varsity.  Throughout the first half the score was kept close keeping the gap to a minimum.  As the game went on the Mules ran away with a three touchdown lead.  Both teams gave their best, but the JV Mules took the game with a score of 14-35.

As the Varsity game started, the stadium was filled with tremendous support from cheerleaders, the MHS band and even a special appearance of ‘Da Braddahs’ who kept the excitement going by launching t-shirts into the stands.  The Trojans took the lead making an early touchdown in the first quarter.  Then the Mules answered back by making two touchdowns, keeping ahead of the Trojans in the first.  Through three quarters the Mules kept a steady lead having the Trojans trail behind.  But during the last quarter the Trojans pulled through with a running touchdown that tied the score.  But in the end, the Leilehua Mules won with a last touchdown making the final outcome 33-40.

Despite the loss, the Mililani Trojans kept their heads held high and honored their graduating seniors at the end of the night.
