A glimpse into the sights of Itsukushima Shrine, junior Ryley Agsalda sits on the lookout of Miyajima Island’s torri gates off of the Hiroshima prefecture. Students were able to walk out to the torri gates since the island was at low tide; if it was high tide the gate would appear as if it was floating on top of the ocean.

During the Oahu Interscholastic Association (OIA) Championship finals of the women’s 100 yard butterfly, Belise Swartwood takes home first place with a time of 56.56 seconds. This was one of four first place titles that Swartwood earned during the championship.

Fuchu High School students visit MHS

ExchangeStudentsOn Sept. 25 juniors from Fuchu High School in Hiroshima prefecture were welcomed at a ceremony during period 3. The students were toured around the school visiting the various classes held at MHS  throughout the day. At the end of the day, they were give the opportunity to interact with MHS’ Japanese students for an hour before departing. “(Compared to Japan, the) ceremony (was more) relaxed; Japanese very, very strict,” expressed Junior Kazuha Hirano, one of the Fuchu students.
