A glimpse into the sights of Itsukushima Shrine, junior Ryley Agsalda sits on the lookout of Miyajima Island’s torri gates off of the Hiroshima prefecture. Students were able to walk out to the torri gates since the island was at low tide; if it was high tide the gate would appear as if it was floating on top of the ocean.

During the Oahu Interscholastic Association (OIA) Championship finals of the women’s 100 yard butterfly, Belise Swartwood takes home first place with a time of 56.56 seconds. This was one of four first place titles that Swartwood earned during the championship.

Here comes the Queen

 

The dream of millions of little girls became reality for Homecoming Queen, Senior Amber Yonamine. On Sept. 27 MHS’ 2011-2012 Homecoming court had the honor of being crowned by alumnae Miss Hawaii 2011 Lauren Cheape and Mrs. Hawaii 2011 Christie Oclaray. “It was an honor and it was amazing because she’s (Cheape) such an amazing person with all her accomplishments,” said Yonamine.
