Students were able to walk out to the torri gates since the island was at low tide; if it was high tide the gate would appear as if it was floating on top of the ocean.

Both highly experienced in soccer and a good friend to his teammates, Senior Jeremy Laguana has become a valuable asset to the Varsity boys soccer team.

“I think (Laguana) is a good leader, he always finds a way to bring the team up along with himself,” expressed Junior Kent Ryckman, continuing, “He’s a good friend because if we lose, he never holds it against you.”

As one of the top defense players, Laguana is a core component of the team with much to contribute. “(Laguana) is one of the captains of the team, one of our best defense players, so in all he’s like part of the backbone of the team,” explained head coach Jeff Yamamoto.

Laguana’s skills were honed through his experience in the game, which started at an early age and continued through all four years of his high school career. “I’ve been playing since I was five,” said Laguana, “I keep playing just for the thrill, some people think it’s satisfying but to me, I love it, I’ve been playing for a super long time and I grew up with it.”

To Laguana, soccer had a large influence on his life, a game that he enjoys and had learned valuable wisdom from. “(Playing soccer) is probably the biggest impact I’ve ever had because it taught me, not only like ‘to be active,’ but it taught me discipline as well,”said Laguana.

With the season over and the school year coming to an end, Laguana plans to further his education through college and possibly continue his career in soccer.
