The joke is that fish in Spanish is “pez” and pessimist in Spanish is “pesimista.” Throughout the strip the “pez” is frowning and says negative things, so in panel 7 the rice says the pun that the fish is being a “pez-imista” (a pessimist). It is a play on words that only works in Spanish.
