Prom Season 2015

How to Get a Date for Prom

STEP 1 – LOCK ONTO TARGET: This is the stage where you mildly stalk your potential date. Choose someone you really get along with, know their routine, scope out the competition, all that jazz.

STEP 2 – BREAK OUT THE CONFIDENCE: Time for that little one-on-one pep talk with yourself. Don’t worry too much and don’t overthink it. Build up your courage because you got this!

STEP 3 – CHOOSE EQUIPMENT: Get ready! It’s time to buy those gifts, paint those signs and look as nice as you can. Presentation is key. Show your future date you really care.

STEP 4 – POP THE QUESTION: Don’t worry, all the hard work is about to pay off. Be creative: do whatever you know they’ll like. Anyway, it’s too late to turn back now.

STEP 5 – BASK IN SUCCESS: You did it! Congrats! Take a moment to enjoy the fact that YOU GOT A DATE TO PROM! (P.S. Don’t forget the flowers.)

Prom Back Then

Capps

“You go there and you dance, it’s a lot less of a totally involved environment like here, but I did really like the pumpin’ experience. You know, you’re all dressed up and back in the day we all had mullets so I thought that was kind of funny. That was like a cool thing to have, a big fat mullet. The girls, I’m from Texas so they all have excessive amounts of makeup on and big puffy hair, so when I look back, all that stuff was pretty funny. But at the time it was just normal.”

Padin

“I went to school in Puerto Rico. It was the best experience ever. I had so much fun with all my friends. But it’s different, the way that prom is structured and all the rules. But it was also pretty sad. It was the last time all of us were going to be together before everyone split and went their different paths. The army or college or just really splitting up.”

-Spanish teacher Yeritza Padin
