Q:  What are some of your interests and hobbies?
A:  Well some of the things that I like to do include watching football NFL football in particular I’m originally from Wisconsin so I’m a Green Bay Packers Fan so it was kind of a good year for me.  So I enjoy watching football, I enjoy any physical activity especially playing basketball.  I still actively play in a basketball league for older people you could say; go to the gym often, go hiking occasionally, spend a lot of time with my dogs walking them and training them.

Q:  How long have you been teaching?
A:  I’ve been teaching in Hawaii for officially seven years so in middle school and before that I would say I had about a year teaching experience as a substitute teacher.  Also in college when I was an undergraduate I was a TA for a few semesters in a intro philosophy course, so I guess I’ve been teaching in someway a lot of my life but seven years solid here in Hawaii.

Q:  So what is it that you enjoy about teaching?
A:  I have the natural inclination to want to help people in some sort of way and I see this as a chance for me to use my intellectual capacity to really benefit people.  I feel that students need to be challenged and they need to be ready and they need to grow and develop and they need to find their passion and I really want to help them along the way because I see education as setting such a strong foundation for their lives in the future and many of them don’t realize it yet how big of an impact it does have but the actions that you do take today in high school really set the ground work for what the rest of your life is going to be like.  So it comes down to helping others.

Q:  What is your favorite animal?
A:  My favorite animal? I would have to say at this point it’s a dog. Cause I really enjoy spending time with my dogs, me and my girlfriend we both enjoy spending time with them and they just bring so much joy in our lives.  But they’re sometimes annoying and they’re very needy.

Q:  If you were given an all expense paid trip where would you go and why would you go there?
A:  An all expense paid trip where would I go? I think at this point in my life I would really like to go to Scotland. Because I am really interested in exploring my last name Duncan which is Scottish, I’m also really interested in exploring my ethnic groups, tracing the history of my family and where I came from and what particular area of Scotland it (my name) came from.  So going back to my roots and understanding who I am a little bit more.  That’s where I would really want to go.
