Q: Where have you traveled during your life?
A: That’s a good topic. I can talk about that because I was born in the Netherlands, in Holland. And I worked for NATO for a while. And NATO, as you know, is a big military organization. It’s an organization and it worked with many different countries, right? So I worked for NATO in Germany and in Holland. Then, of course being from Europe, I visited most of European countries. I lived in Belgium for three years because I married a military guy. So we also lived in Iceland for two years, we lived in Saudi Arabia for two years, we lived in Virginia for three years. I went on my honeymoon to Thailand … many places. Some places that I would like to visit are Japan and Australia and New Zealand, so I’m not done traveling yet.

Q: What superpower would you like to have?
A: I would love to fly. Being able to fly, wouldn’t that be great? Because now sometimes, I feel that as a teacher, I’m so stuck to my classroom all day. I can’t run out to do copies, I have very little time during lunchtime and if I could just quickly do everything … Quickly go here, quickly go there, it’d be much easier. Besides, I’d like to visit other countries and visit my home country every other year and if I could fly, my goodness, I’d save a lot of money, right? I just paid a lot of money for my whole family to go to Holland, so that would be great.

Q: Could you describe your perfect day?
A: Perfect day is I wake up in a good mood. I get all my copies done and I’m the first one at the photocopier in the morning at the office. So I get all my copying done … The perfect day is when the lesson plans that I have developed, when I actually see that students are learning, that they’re getting the material, that they’re having fun. That I’m connecting with each other and that the students are having fun. That makes me feel good that the end of the day. And then, I think it would be a good day if I didn’t have to cook dinner and my husband would take me out for something to eat. And then at night, it’d be if I were able to help out my two boys. You know, and spend sometime with them. I have a 14 year old and a 17 year old and I like to talk to them. We talk everyday, we talk a lot, so I like to have time for them.

Q: When you were younger, what did you want to be?
A: When I was younger, I wanted to be a flight attendant. I guess just the flying thing again, right? I had a cousin that was a flight attendant at the time and she went to all sorts of places, she got gifts from the people who were on the airplane, nowadays that’s not allowed anymore I understand, but I thought it was just the coolest thing, but it didn’t work out that way.
