SCHOOLS GET HELPFUL FEEDBACK AT PARADE OF ORCHESTRAS. The Parade of Orchestras, put on by the Hawaii Chapter of the American String Teacher’s Association on April 9, gave Hawaii orchestras a chance to receive feedback from professionals on their performance quality. “There were two guest clinicians from the mainland listening to each group and then each group received a sheet with comments and feedback, and we’re also gonna receive recorded comments about how we can improve,” said Orchestra and Band Director Bryan Hirata. “So it’s all about improvement.” The responses from judges give participants a chance to view all they’ve worked on since the beginning of the second semester. “The enjoyment for me is to see how far we’ve progressed from the beginning to the time of performance, so it’s just the progress that we make,” said Hirata.
